Welcome the Amarok Art Teams development page
Here we will be organizing our thoughts and ideas on how to best direct Amarok artwork such as Release Pictures, Icons, Splash Screens, Mockups, Amarok themes etc. On this page you will find links to various guidelines, as well as resources like reusable elements, a simple forum for working out loud on works in progress and a gallery.
Participation Guidelines
- You should be doing this because you enjoy it. We all volunteer here on the Amarok artists team.
- .svg and or .xcf versions of all artwork is required in order for it to be considered for inclusion in the official Amarok base. There are some very good reasons for this.
- All of us bring varying degrees of skill and experience as graphic artists. You need to be mindful of that when commenting on peoples artwork submissions.
- Be mindful and respectful of the existing hierarchy on the Amarok project as a whole. Communication is vital. There may already be an effort underway to do something very similar that you join in on. In order for us to reduce duplicity run any ideas you may have by everyone involved. You can do this by using the amarok-promo mailing list and IRC #rokymotion.
Icons
- * * * * * * IMPORTANT * * * * * *
We need something new for the icons we have a problem the containers on the clear playlist and all icons using the same template have been lightened up and this has effectivly made them useless at low res. Also the colors are bad so we are needing something new for the icons and if anyone has ideas now we are really needing it.. The action buttons (play,pause,etc) need a different style so we can make the background darker than the inside.
How to report missing icons
Login. Then go to the Artist team:Icon List. Add it as a bulleted item to the Missing Icon section.

Amarok Live CD
We will be standardising the art work for the Live CD. This way we can streamline the artwork development for future releases. You can view some of the ideas and also work together with other artists in the Amarok Forum!

Color
We will be using the Oxygen Color Palette which you can down load here!
Style
Now this is just as important as the colors. We need something unique about all of our icons that says Amarok icons when you see it.
